Hello! I descend from two Burns lines. One is that of William John Burns born in Ireland in 1810 of Scottish parents,migrated to America,married Mary Hutchison in Illinois or Ky. about 1829,had children in Tazewell Co.Illinois and in Grant Co.Ky.,and then in 1840 he and the four sons showed up in Mo. without Mary. William John later married Nancy Sanders McQuillan.Location-Benton,Morgan,Franklin counties of Mo. The other line is that of William and Julia Worden Burns who were married in 1864 in LaSalle Co.Illinois.One or both may have been Cherokee,perhaps born on The Trail of Tears. They had two sons in Illinois and then settled in Mo. and had two more children. My grandfather was their son Delbert Elijah Burns born in Illinois (1867-1930). As a widow Julia froze to death in the old jail in Warsaw Missouri awaiting trial for killing a squatter. Related names:Sanders,Sumners,Allen,Braden,Campbell,Morris,Berry,Hutchison,Jefferies.
