He had been in failing health for some time, and heart trouble was the cause of his demise. Since the death of his wife in May, 1927 he has lived alone most of the time, although tenderly cared by his daughter Mrs. Ed Collins. Mr. Burns was the father of 12 children, of whom five have preceded their parents in death. Those who survive are Mrs. Ed Collins of Wellston, Mrs. Mary Steube of Columbus, George Burns of Dayton, and James, Edward, Harry and Howard of Shelburne, Ind. No funeral arrangements will be made until George Burns arrives from Dayton this morning. In his earlier life Mr. Burns worked on the railroad, but in recent years he has had no employment.
