Hi Virginia, I think you and I had some discussion a while back. When I was down at the family library in Moultrie, Irene suggested I look into the other Burns' in Decatur, and see if I could find out where they came from. I found Jonah (sometimes referred to as Jonas) in Screven County. The land deed records for Decatur Co include the names Jonah, Michael, and William, which are all names of Thomas H Sr's sons. Your John H is there as well, receiving land from Michael (no way to tell if this is my Michael or Michael, son of Thomas H. But, Michael receives land from Michael (and "Barna" Tucker...probably the brother or father of Annie Tucker who John H married) Can you confirm that? I'm fairly certain that your John H and my Michael are brothers, or at the very least, first cousins. What strikes me as odd is that John H was born in SC, Michael was born in GA, and John H from what I can tell is one year older. If they do hail from this Screven Co family, I'm wondering if John H's father moved into SC from GA. Do you have any census records that state where his father was born? The other thing I have tying John H to Michael is his John's daughter Nancy. She was the victim of a murder (as you probably know) in 1934. She was murdered with I believe her niece. My grandmother, who is still alive, and married Michael's grandson Charles told me that one of Charles' cousins was murdered along with her Aunt, the year she and Charles married (1934) Too much of a coincidence for the double murder my grandmother describes to not be the same murder. I've also connected the Burns in Decatur to Screven through the Roberts-Conner connection, but I don't have that info with me at work. I'll try to dig it up when I get home. One other mention of John H, he also receives land from an Abraham Vickers. One of Michael's daughter (Ellen or Amanda, not sure which, marries a Vickers) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
