    3. Hi Kevin, I have Burns' in Decatur Co. and Gadsden/Leon counties. I have seen this Michael Burns and have not identified him. I also have Geddie's there and two marriages are (my 2g-grandparents) Thomas L. Burns (1847-1910) m. Mary A. F. Geddie (1843-1936) and a Lizzie Geddie (b. c1842) m. an unknown Burns (any possibility here?). I only have as far back as Thomas L.'s parents, John H. Burns (1818 in SC-1864) m. Anne Tucker (1816 in SC or NC-1894) - married in Decatur Co. in 1845. I am looking for any infomation on a Michael Burns, who was born in Georgia (I believe Screven County) around 1820 and died Mar 1, 1889 in Tallahassee, FL. He was married at least twice, once to Margaret Singletary in Decatur Co Georgia. They had one son, Hardy. Margaret apparently died and Hardy was raised by her parents. Michael later lived in the Tallahassee area (Leon Co, FL) and married Elizabeth Geddie. They had children named Michael, John J., Anthony (Tony), Boston, Alexander, Fred T., Ellen and Amanda. What I know about Michael is that he first receives land in Decatur Co GA around 1845. Then, goes to Gadsden Co FL (Concord) before ending up in Tallahassee. Michael served in the WBTS in the 1st Florida Cavalry, and a widow pension application exists. I can pretty much account for his life from 1845 until his deathin 1889. What I am not sure of, is where he was before 1845. There are several other Burns in Decatur Co GA that I can trace back to Screven Co, so it is my theory that he relates to someone from there. In Screven Co GA, there is a Thomas Burns who receives a land grant in 1793 in Burke Co (the same year, Screven was carved from Burke) This Thomas had 6 sons, John, Thomas Jr, William, Michael, Matthew, and Jonas. All of these sons were born before 1801, so the Michael above isn't my Michael. But it could be his father. (I have ruled out Thomas Jr, he had three sons John b.1830, Virgil b.1842, and Crawford b.1845) So, I send this out asking for help! I have been stuck on Michael for almost 2 years now, I've looked at every census record, been to the National Archives, and georgia Archives, and have spent countless hours at the local Family History Center. Is there anyone out there that can help me? ____________________________________________________ Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs
