I'm now the Administrator for the Family Tree Burns DNA Project. The test is so easy - just swab the inside of your cheek. The 12 Marker test is good for genealogy purposes only. It will tell within 14 generations if you are related. This is the next step in proving your research and pointing you in the right direction. Please join us. Write to me, Norma Burns Farmilo norma@naples.net
A word of advice: go for 25 markers or 37 marker test from the start. If you match with any other BURNS, you will want to have at least 13 more marker tested. The 12 marker is $99, 25 marker is $169; if you break your study into 2 tests, it is $99 + $99. Once your sample is on file at www.familytreedna.com, you can order more specific tests (as your budget allows), including your mom's line, the mtDNA. And one man's sample covers the BURNS DNA for his kids, his siblings, his BURNS cousins and aunts & uncles. Several family member might want to pool their money if the expense is a problem, since the results covers them all. I wish I could find one of my husband's BURNS kin, one I *knew* for sure was kin, and was a male and carried the BURNS surname, so he could be tested. But, alas, I will have to watch from the sidelines...
