this almost sounds like my Burns family..however, we called him Henry Burns..when asking my grandmother if he had another name ...she would say "just Henry". and family came into Oklahoma Indian Terr. early...tried to make the land rush but didn't...at one point when my grandmother married they lived in Chickasaw Terr....I do not know if Henry died here in Oklahoma but parts of his family went into Texas... Mary died in Texas... Now Henry's father was names Samuel and he was in MS. at one time moving there from Alabama...Now my grandfather Henry would be a son to Samuel.. It has been so long since I worked this family...I am not sure...think they came down from N.C. into Alabama...you might check in Alabama...seems they were before the war...had land...seems like William was a name but then it was a common name then...check land records etc for Alabama and see what you find..
