I am somewhat confused as to how some of the Burns list mail "co-ordinates" but I have a William, b. 1814 in Ohio with a daughter Adelphine, b. in Illinois abt. 1852 (I would have to look it up for the exact date.) My William and brother John (b. 1806 in Md. or Pa.) are the only 2 Burns' I can trace back to, although I know their father was born in Ireland and mother in Maryland. The name Burns appears on documentation as Burnes prior to the brothers coming to Illinois in 1843. From what I've gathered, they appear to have come from northeastern Ohio to Ill. William went to Wisc. after the civil war, then Iowa (1870 census) then Nebraska, where he died in 1890. Wife Mary (Patchen) Burns and daughter (Adelphine) son-in-law (Arthur Gurnsey) and family, also traveled to these locations with the family, until settling in Neb. (Abt. 1872.) WIlliam and Mary had one son, Charles, b. 1846, who remained in Iowa throughout his lifetime (Franklin County and surrounding area.) Williams brother, John, remained in Kane County, Illinois throughout his lifetime and had 11 children (I have all names, dates documented.) Any links to this family? If so, I would love to hear from you. I would like to make a connection to John and William's mother and father. Thanks, Marcia
Marcia, I am searching for a Martha Burns who was born possibly 1843 or there about. She was living in Pope Co. IL. or surrounding area. She married Charles McNew. They had a daughter Nancy who married Frank Thoman or Tolman or Toman. Anything sound familiar?
