As far as Illinois Burns goes , there are a bunch in Kankakee , Illinois , descendants of Thomas Burns of Castleblayney , Co . Monaghan , Ireland who arrivedin 1873 or 1880 with wife Catherine Mc Donnell and five childrenn in Kankakee , of which Andrew , Frank , James , Michael and Mary , or Bridget as she was also called , all young children . Catherine died soon after and the father had to put his children in an orphanage for a time until he could earn enough to keep them with him . All grew to work their way through studies . James became a commander of an Illinois 6th regiment , I believe in world war I later becoming a judge and in the last ten years of his life he was a democratic representative in state congress , Andrew was a priest who became a high prelate in the church , later becoming a prince of the church , a monsignor . Frank was lawyer in Kankakee all his life , Michael left the family to find his fortune and died early , Mary never married and kept her brogue all her life . My line descends from James Burns , the statesman . I know that Frank went back to Castleblayney twice to visit family , but the family in usa has lost track of the address of the family in ireland and would like to recontact them .We know there were cousins of the Burns's in the Boston area , and they were lawyers . The offspring of Rep. James T. Burns, 10 children , all worked their way through studies and became doctors , dentists , engineers , lawyers and judges , social workers and teachers , their children (my generation ) now have children in elementary school . ---------- >Da: Marilyn Underwood <[email protected]> >A: [email protected] >Oggetto: Re: [BURNS] BURNS >Data: Dom, 28 gen 2001 0:17 > > Marcia: > Were you directing this to anyone in particular or just anyone with Burns > in Ill.???? > > Marilyn - Fla. > > Marcia Coan wrote: > >> Could you e-mail me your Illinois BURNS connection, location and names of > ancestors. >> Thanks >> Marcia >> >> ============================== >> The easiest way to stay in touch with your family and friends! >> http://www.myfamily.com/banner.asp?ID=RWLIST1 > > > ============================== > Add as many as 10 Good Years To Your Life > If you know how to reduce these risks. > http://www.thirdage.com/health/wecare/hearthealth/index.html >
