Bill, here is the information I have: Children of Ignatius Burns and Eleanor Posey are: (1) Ignatius Burns II, b. abt. 1758; m. Elizabeth Posey, 1779, Loudoun Co., Virginia abt. 1760. (2) James Burns, b. abt. 1760, Loudoun Co., Va. (3) Laughlin Burns, b. abt. 1761, (4) Nathan Burns, b. abt. 1763, (5) Simon Burns, b. abt 1766 That information is from the "Burns Family Chronicle" co-authored by Dennis Burns. There is no mention of an Enoch Burns or of a Susanna Rice in the book. Hope that helps your quest for an answer. Marilyn Burns tillie@adsnet.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "William P. Also glad to see the list active. Does anyone have a Martha "Patsy" Burns born ca. 1780, in S. C. and died in Alabama. She was married to James Darby. She may have had a sister, Susan Elizabeth Burns. She would have been born ca. 1774, in S. C. and married Willis Benjamin Darby, Jr.... She died in Pike County, Alabama, ca. 1838.. Thanks, Catherine
My BURNS' come from upstate NY through Vermont and finally Boston, Ma.

Is anyone researching Catholic Burns families from Windsor, Nova Scotia? James Burns, born about 1808 in Ireland. He and his wife Johannah Mulcahy came to Nova Scotia before 1842, which is when their son William was born in Windsor. William married Mary Ann Daley in Three Mile Plains in 1864. Prior to the outbreak of the war all list members (I'm on many) were told to keep the posting 'only' to genealogy and that the lists were "NOT" a place to discuss our views or the war. With this directive I gave a big sigh of relief & a silent thank you to Roots Web knowing that I could 'escape' the problems we face in the world as well as those we encounter in our personal lives. I do genealogy to keep sane as it keeps my mind from dwelling on what I am dealing with ie: husband in hosp & potential nursing home, worry about those we know and love who are so vailantly serving our country. I do NOT need this kind of upsetting thread. If you want war news (as I do) go to the tv or http://intellnet.org or go to the blog sites to get unbiased, unembedded journalists reports. I fully stand behind our troops and those of the coalition and am very active in sending packages however I do NOT want to hear about it when I'm on a genealogy site or list!!! If you're unhappy with Roots Web then unsub but PLEASE let's get back to genealogy!!!! Searching: Samuel BURNS in Barre VT in 1880 age 88. Annis BURNS married to Augustus F POLLARD in VT Dot -- May G-d bless and protect all our men and women in our military. --
Carson and Betty, You have said it all just fine.
I would like to step in here and make a few remarks with regards to the origanal poster. !. I am a mother of a son and duaghter who are both in the Military and my son was activated to full duty when this event occurred. I am proud of my two children and what they stand for and the fact that they are standing up to say they will continue to support our countries and others in thei quest for freedom whether it is here in the United States or any other country for that matter. 2. I support my President and my country along with my children in this continued quest for freedom of all people not just the United States but all countries in the world. 3. Now as to Rootsweb.com and Ancestry.com and Genealogy.com and any other Genealogy Group, Historical Group and their stance on this subject of this war in Iraq. They have made a decision that was to continue to have a forum free of politics and whether the United States and England and a few other countries were right or wrong on what is happening today in this World. 4. I believe they have this right and whether it is right or wrong we should all follow their lead. Having a children in the military and is involved in what is going on has been hardon my family and his wife and children. Although I haven't been able to discuss on list what he has been doing, I feel that Rootsweb and all of the other Genealogy sites were correct in handling this situation. You know although the lists have been very quiet because everyone has been glued to the Television watching what is happening I feel the lists have been a reprieve for me to be able to come to my computer and read my list mail without having to hash out what we should or shouldn't be doing with regards to Iraq. 5. Unsubscribing to the lists is your choice but I believe you are wrong in this matter. Yes there are things about this conflict that is related to Genealogy but Politics and Genealogy and Religion just do not mix together well. I am sorry that you have found the need to resign yourself from these lists but you have to do what you think is right for yourself. But don't think that the people behind the scenes at Rootsweb.and the other sites are any less patriotic because they made this decision in the best interests of everyone not just themselves. They have made the list administrators life a bit easier by handling this situation this way. 6. If they had allowed this topic to be freely discussed there would have been a major crisis between peoples of the different countries. Yes, I don't care what other countries feel about us and they probably don't care how we feel about them. You have to remember their leaders all have to think of their countrymen and women just as ours does. Whether France, Germany, Russia, China or any other country disagrees with our Country is a very moot point here. I hope that once this conflict is over that relations with these other countries will become once again stable., if not the United States will continue as is has for the past 400 years, continue to grow and continue to have the freedom our ancestors have fought for these past 400 years.
