    2. Greetings from Iowa! Do you have me mixed up with another Burns request...or have I forgotten something I posted? To my knowledge none of our Burns relatives were in New York. One is believed to have settled in the area of Big Stone Gap in Virginia (Carlo B) and another in Michigan (Katherine m. ? Seeley). All the others I know about at this point are in eastern Kentucky. The Lizzie in my tree, we think, burned to death in a house fire in childhood. If you think there may be connections, get back to me and I will be happy to share what information I have. Pamela

    3. Carolyn, I have no specific information for you, but I do note a coincidence that might bear closer examination. I have a Robert Albert Burns, married Mariah Riley in 1828, and they named one of their daughters Mahala. She was born in 1842 and married an unknown Wilson. I have no other information about her. The name is unusual enough that I thought their could be a connection. The 1850 Ohio Census (Adams Co., Franklin Twp, #71/71) shows the complete family as: Albert BURNS 52 M Farming $200 VA Manah (Mariah) 41 F " Sarah 21 F OH Israh 20 M " B. J. 17 M " John 13 M " George 11 M " Mahala 8 F " Robert 6 M " Mariah 3 F " Joseph 1 M " Another daughter, Phoebe, was born in 1852. Do any of these names recur significantly in your family? 3. Ruth and all the rest of the list - You people are something else!!! You really don't know how much it meant to me to read your replies (quite a few!) and not scream at me - like I have seen done to people on other lists. To tell the truth, I was scared to death to 'open' those messgs. Debbie is my daughter and lives on 16 acres 50 mi. north of me (I'm in Clearwater, Fl) and Haylee is my 21 yr.old granddaughter. She just happened to be home from college that week-end. She use to ride in the equestrian/jumper trials and Harbor was her horse. But Debbie of course was the one taking care of it along with Chester Field (wonder where THAT name came from :-) ) the donkey and McGiver the miniture donkey and is always in the pasture loving and kissing them so this really set her back some. I just copied and emailed her all your comments so I know she says 'thank you to everyone'. Again, thank you for being so understanding - I HOPE it doesn't happen again. Told Debbie, "thank goodness I wasn't cussing and carrying on about someone". Marilyn (Mick) - Fla. Ruth E Mesarch wrote: > Poor Mick, > Sure hope she has enjoyed the Burns fun.
