    3. Kevin, there is a Burns family in the 1880 census in Holmes Co., FL, with a 2 year old named Anthony. Could this be your Anthony. Do you have access to the census? If not, I could send you a copy of this page (p. 13, SD 18, ED 65). 3. Hi Marie I can't remember seeing this message in NORTHUMBRIA-L but maybe I missed it. I am surprised that Brian has not offered some help. Just put it in again and ask for some advice on where to look. Also try the NDFHS site (Northumberland & Durham Family History Society). They don't have indexes on line but I think they do have a list of their resources. If you really need a researcher, I will try and lookout a name for you. I suppose you have tried the Shipping lists? 2. Hi, My Burns family came from York, Leeds, and Durham England. James was the father, son Patrick Burns, married to Mary Teresa Cullen. James was his son, and James was James's son. They left England in1881-1882, apparently lived in Osage, Kansas until 1900 then to Walsenburg and Patrick and Mary Teresa Cullen died there. If anyone has record of where Patrick, Mary and James (baby) landed please get in touch. Ada Burns Cardon

    3. Well, if you are looking for Sutherland, Durham. do you mean Sunderland, Durham, I wonder. whatever, if you want Durham it is all together with the Northumbria site. I should explain that Northumbria is the modern name for Northumberland. In case you have any more puzzles about English/Scottish names, towns et., keep my address by you so that you can contact me. Glenda, I guess I flunk my geography test. I should have know this. I am sure my Irwin line came from Ireland, but I only go back to 1786 in the States where Samuel Irwin is recorded on a tax list in Derry Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. It appears he may have been born sometime around 1752 and had two sons, John b. abt. 1773 and Hugh M. Irwin b. 1781. One of Samuel's daughters married a Dennis Burns in this same area. Thanks for the lesson, Dave

    3. Hallo there I am researching my gggrandparents. Margaret Williamson, of Flowerburn, b ab 1844, father Alexander, mother Ann (nee Gollan) married: Christopher Burns b ab 1830, Sergeant of 12th Regiment of Foot, father John Burns dec blacksmith, at Rosemarkie on 21/1/1860. However, she also married John S Palmer in Sitapore, India in 1865 and they had my great grandmother, Elizabeth in 1867. I would like to know what happened to Christopher Burns. I would also like information on John Burns Snr and family, although I have not yet attempted to research this. I have a death cert for a Christopher Burns, a tailor journeyman, b ab 1831, who died in Edinburgh on 22/03/1864. This is free to anyone with proven interest. I will repeat this in a separate message. All help will be greatly appreciated Regads Glenda Isle of Man
