    3. I don't know of a Lonnie Burns, but we might be related anyway. I'm Tanya Burns, married now. What I found interesting about your email was that my dad was in prison about the same time in Alabama. His name was Ralph Burns. I hope you find him. My husband's adopted & never knew his birth parents. I wish you well. Tanya ----- Original Message ----- From: Shadoe To: BURNS-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, May 02, 2004 1:47 PM Subject: [BURNS] John Burns Good day to all, For me, this is an usual request, as I am not related to the person but he is my older sisters birth father. We are looking for information on him and his parents etc. His name is John Lonnie Burns. He and our mother were never married. They met in Colorado. She became pregnant in 1954 and at some point he went to prison, exact reason not recalled but it was something like robbery or grand theft. Our mother used to visit him in prison. My sister was born in December of 1954. Our mother worked as a car hop at a diner in Colorado Springs and that is where she met my father. She married my father in November of 1955. Last my sister had heard was that her birth father had a family and that they were living in Kansas somewhere. If anyone knows of this Burns we would love any information that can be provided so that we can trace his and my sisters ancestors. Stacey __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? My Great Grandmother, Nancy Jane Burns (b. 05-01-1863 d.05-28-1950) was from Bell Co. Kentucky. Her Mother was Malinda Burns, Father unknown. She had a brother William (b. 05-04-1885 d.03-12-1975). 2. Don't think so. Since Patrick named his son Charles, it stands to reason that Patrick's father was named Charles and then maybe Charles' father was Patrick. But that is all I have to go on. I need to find Ann Burns. 2. Hi Pamela, I have a Nancy Jane Burns b. abt 1856 in Cumberland Cty KY. (She was 4 on the 1860 census) Parents were William W. Burns and Sarah Jane Norris. I don't know anything about my William's family, but it sure seems a coincidence that we would find two girls with the same name, born around the same time. (Cumberland Cty is 4 counties directly west of Bell Cty) Perhaps my William and the father of your Nancy were closely related. What do you think? Cherie

    1. Patrick Joseph Burns/Martha Jane Dawes
    2. Looking for information on the Patrick Joseph Burns family. He married Martha Jane Dawes ca. 1900 (place unknown) (b. 1869 England, d. 1956) (parents: Charles Dawes/Jane Wesseldine b. Cambridgeshire, England 1844, both died in Clinton, New York ca. 1900's). Patrick's date of birth (ca. 1885 - according to his SSA ) and place of birth varies from Binghamton, NY to Ireland to Luzerne, Pa.(he died 1947 in NYS) I have his death certificate. His parents (according to his Social Security card) are: Charles Burns and Alice Gilroy. Can't find any information about Charles & Alice. The tales are that he was an orphan. Well, you have to have had parents. I think I found him in St. Mary's Orphan Aslym in Binghamton, NY (age 7 - estimated birth year is 1873) along with an Ann (age 10) in the 1880 census . I can't find where the records are kept for that orphanage. Martha/Patrick (my great-grandparents) had four children: my grandfather, Charles; Margaret Burns Wood; Theodore , & Frederick . I have information on the children but nothing on Patrick. Really need help. Sue Myers Sue8526@bellsouth.net

    2. B. 07 Feb 1829 Hegira KY D. 03 Oct 1903 Cumberland Cty KY Trying to find parents/siblings of William W. Burns. Have been told his father may be "Berry Burns". William was discharged from CSA with disability due to contracting measles which left his lungs and hearing damaged. He drew pension from government "He was in C. War in 5th Calvary under Capt. Bradshaw. Enl. 10/4/1861 dis. 4/28/1862 disabled due to contracting measles in service" William married Sarah Jane Norris (daug of John J. Norris & Jane Murphy) on 11 Oct 1852 in Cumberland Co where they remained the rest of their lives. On a census, William stated both parents born WV, but WV not a state at the time of Parents' births, so probably VA. Name is found as Burns, Burnes, (and even Barnes) on various records. Any help would be appreciated. Happy to share info.
