    1. [BURNS-L] re: BURNS FAMILY
    2. HI listers! Searching for information on Garrett Hobert Burns Sr. b. in Red Star, Arkansas m. Louella Stanberry b. 1906 Red Star, Arkansas. He died sometime in 1965 (dad says it was in the summer months-doesn't remember which month) in Oklahoma City at the Oklahoma Memorial Hospital. Garretts father was named "Sol" (maybe spelled as Saul ?) Burns married to a ? Lewis. Garrett had a sister named Bell Burns who was married to a fellow they called "Dude" last name of Embry. They had a daughter but dad can't remember her name either. Supposedly Sol was a Baptist preacher. Garrett worked for Douglas Aircraft in Oklahoma City (maybe it was Tinkers Air Force Base back then?) during WWII. would anyone happen to have anything on this family?? thanks, cheryl

    3. Sorry to say, but I don't really know... The Robert BURNS I mentioned in my message is the only one we know about --- so far! And we just found out about him one week ago! My MULLINS line is supposed to have come from Ireland... but I'm still trying to track that one too! 3. Hello, I'm new to the list. I'm trying to find info on my gr-grandmother's first husband, Robert H. J. BURNS. I have no "date" information other than the wedding date... He married Elizabeth "Lizzie" GEORGE on July 1, 1877. I have that they married in Comal Co, Texas... however, they do not show on the 1880 census records for that county or in cemetery records..... So I am deducting that they moved to another county either to BURNS' home or perhaps to follow work.... I have not found anything yet in checking surrounding counties. Gr-Grandma Lizzie married for a 2nd time in Dec of 1884 to John William WILKERSON --- again in Comal Co, TX --- they had 10 children. Either the 1st marriage ended in divorce at some point or Robert BURNS died of a disease or mishap. Since there is a 7-year gap, there is also the possibility of children from the first marriage. I have no records of children but if they existed, they could have also died. I have a wedding date for Robert and Lizzie in 1877... then they disappear until Lizzie remarries in 1884.... from that point I have worlds of information. If you think we have a link or have BURNS in mid-Texas in the 1800's, I'd appreciate your contacting me. Thanks, DebKK Texas

    2. Hi Craig, Thanks for the information. The date is so close to my gggGrandfather's. His is Nov 4, 1788. (This may be wrong.) He died during the Civil War and was buried in his front yard. When his sons came home after the Civil War he was moved to the Cemetery in Pleasant Hope. I have found other dates wrong before. There is suppose to be Mitchells in the Burns family but nobody here could tie into them. One of John's daughter, Susannah left here when John was killed in 1863. Her husband was in a federal prison and she was afraid for her and her children. She left here and went to Arkansas and stayed with a family of Mitchells in Izard Co. until Nelson Baker (her husband) came home and then they moved there. I have a cousin in Izard Co. but the Mitchell's there don't think they are related, but how many times has that been proved wrong. What information do you have on this John? My gggGrandfather stated in his War of 1812 pension file he came to TN as a young lad. I know he was in Bedford Co. TN in Oct 12, 1811 when he married Margaret Wilson, daughter of James Wilson. He stayed there until 1835 when he moved to Tippah Co. MS and left there in August 1837 over a land disput. He came to MO and stayed here. His children were named: first son drowned name unknown. John Foster Born 1814, William B. Born 1816, Robert W. Born 1818 (my ggGrandfather), Sarah Malinda Born 1824, Susannah Matilda Born 1826, Joseph M Born 1828, Thomas Zachuess Lafayette Born 1830, Elihu Dennis Born 1832 (Boice's gggGrandfather). Does any of this connect with you? Thanks Lorene
