Just a wild suggestion from a lurker here,---if you know when and where the father died---and you know the son is elsewhere---have you checked the county records where the father died --maybe a power of attorney from the sons to collect anything due them from the fathers death? That would tell you where they were. But probably you have already considered that. Mamie ================================== From: "H & CJ Nichols" <[email protected]> > My Thomas Aubrey BURNS was born 19 May 1827 in Missouri. However, we have not been able to pin him down anywhere for sure after that. His birth date was taken from his father's Bible record and his father died in 1872 - at time we assume Thomas was still living as no entry for his death is there. I believe he may have been the Thomas that is living close to Asbury Wesley who would be a brother - in Nemeha Co ., Nebraska in 1856, but can't be sure. <George P Burns and Mary Ann Lester and their children John W., Jane, Isabel A., Thomas, George P., Richard W., James A., Levi, and David in Fillmore, Andrew County, Missouri beginning about 1858. Do these names sound familiar to anyone?> I have a David E. Burns born abt 1897. According to my grandmothers birth certificate he was born in Chilcoathe Missouri. I'm not certain of the spelling for the town because I have seen it spelled different ways. I don't have much info mostly cause my grandmother always changed the story on her parents. I do know that at one point David E Burns lived in Colorado, then on to Idaho. Was a farmer in Colorado. Worked with the Railroad (at least that is what I have been led to believe). He died in Idaho about 1950. Any info/leads would be appreciated this has been an elusive hunt. Thanks Tawnya
My burns line supposedly has Native American blood lines. I'm beginning to think they were shot down here from another planet, populated and reshipped home to Mother planet!! cheryl

I have some Burns in Northwest Missouri too; George P Burns and Mary Ann Lester and their children John W., Jane, Isabel A., Thomas, George P., Richard W., James A., Levi, and David in Fillmore, Andrew County, Missouri beginning about 1858. Do these names sound familiar to anyone?
ok thanks.
try www.google.com Type in the whole name, or just surname and the genealogy. When you review the results, click on cache. It will highlight the name you are looking for. This is the best search engine I have used. Yvonne
Ok,thanks Betty. I just put my james solomon burns into a search engine and it gave me this: FTM volume 10 tree#1265. I'm stuck like chuck cause I don't have any Family treemaker CD's! You might try a search engine and see if it brings him up. cheryl

There may be a simple answer to the Burns mystery In my research, back to 1833, I found the original manuscripts, deeds, etc. all said Byrns. It seems, in my family anyway; that they all changed to the common Burns around 1899. Betty, So far, looks like an alien ship dumped James Solomon Burns off in Red Star Madison CO,Arkansas (along with wife Rebecca Lewis), they had several children there and then he died in Oklahoma year of 1948. any help w/this bunch would be greatly appreciated! cheryl
Oh Lordy Lordy! WELL, does anyone have any of the family names mentioned, especially Chester, Estel and Sterling? Those are definitely not ordinary common names! Thanks CJ for replying! I appreciate it. Cheryl
CJ: Where in middle TN did these Burnses come from? I have a "mysterious" John Burns (my GGGF)who appeared more or less from "nowhere" about that date of 1804 into Bedford County, TN. Every time we decide we have found his line, some flaw in our theory shows up and nullifies the whole thing. His wife was Margaret Wilson and they married there in Bedford County in 1811. John was born in 1788 and Margaret was born in 1796. The Wilsons came from Mecklenburg County, NC but Margaret's father James Wilson moved his family to Lincoln County, GA a short time after the Revolution so that's where Margaret was born. We have theorized for a long time that our John came to Bedford County, TN with the Wilsons but have no proof. We have another"theory" that John's father was named James. We have absolutely no information as to John's siblings, etc so we're willing to listen to information on any line that passed thru middle TN. Our John Burns left Bedford County about 1835 and went to Tippah County, MS, stayed just a couple or so years and went on to Polk County. MO where he settled his family in 1837.A lot of his descendants still live in that area of southwest MO, so we have plenty of information on the family after 1837 but have been hung up on earlier dates for a long time.
