In 1860 they are in Shelby Co.,AL. They later, about 1870, moved to Texas. They were in VanZandt Co.,Texas in 1880. Known children were: James 1844, Thomas 1846, Nancy 1848(our line), William 1852, and Adaline 1859. The daughter Nancy J. Burns, married John Sayers Armstrong in Kaufman Co.,Texas in 1871, and then lived in Smith Co.,Texas. Is there any family out there?? Hello Walter, I don't remember sharing info with you, but anyhow.... My gfather Claud's (b.1886) parents were THOMAS & MISSOURI "SUE" INGRUM/INGRAM BURNS. She was native american, possibly Cherokee or Choctaw. Sometime in the early 1900's they migrated north into Oklahoma, Pittsburg County. I have been told my gfather had two other brothers, GROVER CLEVELAND, and DELBERT BURNS, and a sister.....name unknown. I don't think I'm connected with your Burns. I tried to make a connection with your line before and didn't find any familiar names. Thanks for your interest. Terrie Burns Coffee
I keep seeing a lot of questions asked about Burns families that "originated" in northeast Texas. I followed a line of Burnses in that section of Texas that went back to a Lard Burns who came from MO in the early 1800's as a preacher in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. I had the idea that he was a brother to my great great grandfather but apparently this was a wild goose chase for me. However, I have that information as well as the names & addresses of some of the researchers of his line. I have a feeling that some of the people with connections to Burns families in that area from Titus County over to Grayson County might make a connection. If somebody thinks this might be the case, I might have some information they could use.I could probably just provide the names of some other researchers I have found and let you take it from there. I'm sorry, this was to have direct to Terrie, not the Burns list. -----Original Message----- From: Walter Maynard <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Saturday, June 17, 2000 9:49 AM Subject: Re: [BURNS-L] Thomas Aubrey Burns > >-----Original Message----- >From: adtaco <[email protected]> >To: [email protected] <[email protected]> >Date: Friday, June 16, 2000 10:14 PM >Subject: Re: [BURNS-L] Thomas Aubrey Burns > > >>Hi Cathy, My BURNS line supposely came from COLLIN COUNTY, TX. Hi Cathy, My BURNS line supposely came from COLLIN COUNTY, TX. My grandfather CLAUD came from MELISSA, TX. The only proof that I have of this is I found my gfather on the 1920 census in Johnston, County, OK. It stated he was born in Tx, as was both patents. I have only verbal family history concerning the location....but everyone I have talked with has agreed on the county. Thanks so much for your reply. Hi Ellen: I'm going to butt in also - if you don't mind! The locations are fairly close so am taking a chance on this. My first finding of g.g.grandparents: 1850 census -John Burns m. Mary Ann Kelly 1848-1850 - Monroe Co., Coolbaugh Twp.PA with a baby, Francis (Frank/Franklin). John b. 1820 Ireland - don't know where- came to states abt. 1832-35. Don't know parents/family. d. 1872 Atlanta, Ill. Mary Ann Kelly b. 1820 Shannon, Ireland d. 1895 Atlanta, Ill. Children: Francis b. 1850 Monroe Co. Peter b. 1852 " " John K b. 1854 Atlanta, Ill. (my g.grandfather) d. 1902 Wash.DC Thomas b. 1856 " " Margaret (Maggie) 1860 " " Have been half way looking at Burns with the name Francis or Peter, thinking they named first or second born after his father and the other after hers. I don't know hers either What do you think? Schulykill isn't that far away I don't think. Marilyn - Fla.
