    1. [BURNS-L] Thomas Burns in Bentonville AR
    2. Lorene Noenning mentioned a Thomas Burns in Bentonville AR, the son of a John W. Burns of Bedford Co TN, later Maury Co. There was a Revolutionary War vet John Burns in Bedford (born in Baltimore Co MD about 1753, lived in Guilford and Rockingham Counties NC until 1807 when he moved to Bedford Co TN). This John Burns (we are not aware of a middle initial) had a son, Thomas Patrick Burns, and other children. John Burns died in 1837 in Bedford Co TN; Thomas Patrick Burns died in Bedford Co TN in 1838 and as far as we know did not go to Bentonville, though his widow and some, if not all, of his children did. Thomas Patrick Burns married Mary Ann Sewell Knott, the daughter of William Knott and Elizabeth Frazier, both from NC and both buried in Bell Buckle Cem., Bedford Co TN. The children of Thomas Patrick Burns were William Burns, John H. Burns, Robert L. Burns, Thomas Knott Burns, and James P. Burns. When William turned 21, he was made the guardian of his brothers in Bedford Co TN in 1851. William moved to Bentonville AR in the 1850's and to Bell Co TX in the early 1860s, where he served in the Confederate army. William's mother had also moved to Bentonville AR, but stayed there rather than move to TX. At least two of William's brothers, James P. and John H. lived and stayed in AR. William had a son, Thomas Andrew Burns (1853 - 1933) who lived in Bell Co. Incidentally, part of Bedford Co became Marshall Co in 1836, not Maury Co. This is from an excellent county map program that shows the history of each state's shifting county boundaries. The program is called Animap and it is sold by The Gold Bug. The Gold Bug web site, www.goldbug.com, has a demo of the program. Bill Burns [email protected]

    3. Was your Claud also born in Texas? Do you know a marriage year for Thomas and Missouri (Sue) Ingram? I will keep your info on file! Thanks for replying! Mamie ================================ From: "alan coffee" <[email protected]> > Mamie, My great g/father was a Thomas Burns from Tx, middle initial unknown. My gfather Claud Burns was his son and he was born in 1886, so your Thomas would have been 40 when Claud was born...so it's possible. Thomas's wife was Missouri "Sue" Ingrum or Ingram she was possibly Cherokee or Choctaw. They migrated into Oklahoma in the early 1900's and lived in Pittsburg County area. All I know of my ggparents are thier names and where they were born(texas). Let me know if you find anything out and thanks for your time. > Terrie Burns Coffee

    3. Hi Judy! I am familiar with your Burns names in Bibb Co.,AL. I don't think mine is the same, but could be related somehow unknown, if that is what you mean. I saw that Willis married Kesiah Moore in 1834, and William W. married Lucinda Acker 1847. Are these the ones you speak of? Did they also move to Texas? 3. Hi Lorene, Thank you for your reply. My great grandfather Summerville Burns was born in Howell, Mo,so I assume his father C.G. Burns and wife Naomi were living there. C.G. was born in Virginia in 1795 and married about 1832.Naomi was born in 1816 in Kentucky. This is all I have on them and my cousin found this years ago when in Missouri. It is pretty hard to locate them with only initials and first names. If any of this connects with your line I would really appreciate hearing from you. Thank you, Betty -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Tuesday, June 20, 2000 12:53 PM Subject: Re: [BURNS-L] Northwest Missouri >Hi Betty, > >Was your C.G Burns from Howell MO or Howell County MO. ? > >Lorene > > >==== BURNS Mailing List ==== > Your contributions to RootsWeb helps make BURNS-L possible. >RootsWeb Gen. 3. My great-grandfather was Andrew Jackson Burns born abt. 1880 in Fannin County, Texas. He married Annie Anderson. Andrew had a brother named Henry and he married Annie's sister, May. These two families lived and died in the Red River, Lamar Counties of Northeast Texas. Supposedly the Burns and Andersons came from Arkansas but that is all the information I have. ANY information would be appreciated.

    2. He is probably connected to the Thomas Burns in Bentonville ARK. Those are family names for him. There was two brothers that went to Bentonville Ark. from TN. Thomas's father was John W. Burns, a Rev. war soldier. He served on the NC line. He settled in Bedford Co. TN. He lived near Columbia which was in the the part of of Bedford county that became Maury Co. I believe that Isbel is the wife of John W. I would have to check my records further to be sure. I hope this helps you.

    2. Hi My gggGrandfather came to TN as a young lad. He was born in 1788 in NC (or SC according where the state line was at the time). He had settled in Bedford Co.TN by 1812 when he married my gggGrandmother Margaret Wilson. He stated he came to TN as a young lad. There are three people in my family that is researching this John. We think his father may have been named James but couldn't prove it. Do you have any information on your James that went to TN in 1804? Wife? Children? Brothers and Sisters? Anything would be helpful so that we could connect or rule out this James. Thank you, Lorene Noennig [email protected]

    3. At this point, I have not persued the siblings of Nancy. I know about Nancy, and another on the list is a descendant of the son William J.Burns. The children James, Thomas (that you ask about), and Adaline, I know nothing about right now. Do you have someone who may possibly fit?
