    1. Re: [BURNS-L] Thomas Burns in Bentonville AR
    2. Hi Bill, I should never depend on my memory. I was wrong about the Burns in Bentonville. I remembered my facts wrong. I should have checked my records first. Sorry about the incorrect information. I found your John Burns listed on a file of pensioners in TN. I had just started researching and didn't document all my files. John was listed as John W. Burns on that list of Rev. War pensioners from Bedford County. That is where I got the middle initial. All the information I have on Bedford County I got at the library here. It stated that Bedford was divided into 3 counties in 1836, Bedford, Marshall and Maury so I assumed that was correct. There were 3 John Burns in Bedford Co. at that time. 1. your John, 2. my John, and 3 John who was married to Mary Cunningham near Chappel Hill, which later became Marshall Co. My John left probably around 1835. He was born Nov. 4, 1788 and married Margaret Wilson (dau. of James Wilson). on Oct 12, 1811 in Bedford Co. He left TN about 1835 and went to Tippah Co. MS. Then he went to Polk Co. MO in August 1837 where he lived until his death in 1863. I have found my gggGrandmothers family, James Wilson of Marshall Co. TN. A relation of hers stated Margaret married Elias Burns. John has a grandson named Elias, but always signed everything here as John Burns. I haven't been able to find his family. He stated he came to TN as a young lad. Would you have any information on this family? Thanks for all you help, and once again sorry about muddying the waters. 2. Hi Betty, I think your cousin may have found the Burns in Howell County, MO. There are were some Burns in Willow Springs, Howell Co. MO. He was a undertaker I believe. My husband who is now dead told me about some Burns that lived in Willow Springs. He was from there. Otherwise I don't have any information but maybe this little will help you Good Luck Lorene

    2. CJ My gggGrandfather settled in Southwest Mo. in 1837. There was a Joseph R. Burns that came with him. I don't have any other information on him except he stated he came to TN as a young lad. He was born Nov 4, 1788. Does he tie into your lines in any way. He refered to a older brother Jimmy that was killed on the way to CA in 1850. Please let me know. 3. I have these names....Joseph and James but in a reversed order. There are far too many Burns in my family to list here. I don't think these are the ones you are looking for as they were in KY and went to CA in 1853 but they are so close in name and DOBs that I wonder about them and how they might have been related. You can see them at http://www.angelfire.com/mt/mamachic/burns.html Thanks, Delleen Starner [email protected] > CJ > > My gggGrandfather settled in Southwest Mo. in 1837. 1. [BURNS-L] Louisiana Burns & McWilliams
    2. Dear Genealogists, This is my first visit to the mailing list. I have an old Burns family in Lousiana (Assumption region) that I would love to find more about. In about 1800, John Burns married Sarah McWilliams (born in County Cork, Ireland in 1780). This couple had three children: Susan, Marie, and Willoughby (b. 1810). Willoughby married a canary islander named Marie Romero and they had about 14 children. I'm descended from this line. If any of this sounds familiar, I would love to correspond. I have a great deal of information to share myself, and would be happy to do so if desired. Yours, Rev. Basil Burns, O.S.B.
