We have a BURNS/BYRNE/BYRNES line that appears to come out of Ontario. Sarah Burns/Byrne/Byrnes (born circa 1800) married John McLAUGHLIN ~ 1820. They lived in the area of Kingston, Frontenac County, Ontario until about 1830, then moved possibly to Ohio, and by the 1840s on to Jefferson County, Wisconsin. See anything interesting here? I would like to post some new information that I learned tonight. I have been searching for the father of one of my great grandfather's, whose name was JAMES BURNS of CARABUSS COUNTY, NC. Tonight I found out who his father was. He was ISAAC BURNS. I would like to find out more about Isaac Burns, Sr. and I am willing to share information. If anyone knows anything please let me know. Thank you very much. Cathy Resident Co-chef at, "The Bluffs" "May the road rise to greet and the wind be always at your back..." Hi, I would like to know if anyone is researching Simuel 'Simeon' & Eliza 'Porter' Burns in Calhoun or Jackson Co., FLA... I would like to to get in touch with any descendents of them.. I haven't done much research on the Burns/Porter families.. I would be glad to share information with you. I have found Simeon & Eliza 'Porter' Burns in the 1860 Jackson Co. Fla census, but they are not listed in the Jackson Co. Fla. census after that.. Simeon Burns is listed in the 1850 Jackson Co. Fla census with his parents.. My direct family line comes from his brother, Benjamin M. Burns.. What makes it so hard until now is that Simeon & Benjamin Burns named their sons, Jonah William (or vice verse) & John Williams ( Wm. John) Burns... They also married 2 Griffin ladies (which more research needs to done on the Griffin family.. I think I have finally gotten the Burns straighten out.. At Nettle Ridge ceme. in Calhoun Co. FLa. there is an Ida Burns Peacock & Eliza Burns Stone.. I don't know who they belong to.. I'ld would like to know if you have found Simeon & Eliza 'Porter' Burns in the Calhoun Co. Fla census?? Or if you can help out on their children?? There is also a Idell M. Burns at Old Shiloh Ceme. in Calhoun Co. FLa... There is also another Burns family in Jackson Co. Fla. that is from Ohio... Thank you, Betty <[email protected]>

Sorry, he was in Brookfield IL, Cook County and lived on Elm Ave. His dad's name was John J. Burns.
Have you checked with the Warren-Trumbull County library (Local History and Geneology) to see what might be available? E-mail me personally and I will give you their e-mail address and contact person. Have you researched the family of Andrew and Catherine Burns of Trumbull Cty? I believe I have a copy of their children from Andrews will, I will look through my huge pile of notes and see what I can find. The name Levi does ring a bell. I, too, have Burns' who were in Trumbull County. There are several neighboring counties where they lived also (Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake) so it makes it difficult to pin down who belonged to who. I'm right about where you are in my research--I know your frustration! get in touch with me when you can. Hello, I am looking for information on Mathew Burns. He was married in Cook County Jan 12, 1911 to Jessie Strokal. He is in the 1920 Census. His obituary says he had a brother William and 2 sisters, Irene and Elizabeth. We think his father's name was John. If this rings a bell with anyone please let me know. Thank you
Is that Illinois or Texas, or someplace else??? ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, December 08, 2000 10:21 AM Subject: [BURNS] Mathew Burns > Hello, I am looking for information on Mathew Burns. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Rowena BURNS taken at the Palace Gallery in Woodland, California. The photograph was taken in the 1880's when Rowena was 6-11 years of age, Rowena was b. 17 December 1879. The album the photograph was taken from identified Rowena as the only daughter of Col. Daniel M. BURNS who was a California State Senator, Secretary of State under Gov. Pike, and County Clerk in Yolo County, California. I've learned that the BURNS family came to Sacramento, California in the early 1850's from Tennessee. Parents William & Caroline BURNS came with their four children including Thomas, Daniel, Laura, and an infant who along with Caroline BURNS died shortly after arriving in California. William BURNS died at Fort Hall, Idaho while the children were still young, leaving the boys to be raised by the SULLIVAN family and Laura BURNS by the TRAVERS family near Woodland, California. Thomas BURNS settled in Humboldt County, California, Laura married Henry FURRY and Daniel pursued politics. I'd like to return the photograph to family, however, to date I've been unable to connect with any direct relatives interested in having the photograph. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
