This resulted from a conversation with my Grandmother this past week. My grandfather also lived in Savannah. He died a few years ago His name is Joseph Suarez or Saures. My grandmother believed he was Cuban. I do know that he was an amputee when he died. His mother's name was Clara Bennett, and I believe his step-father's last name was Dinkins. My grandmother said my great grandfather and great grandmother were exiled from the town because of a mixed marriage. He was full or half blood Cherokee and her was parents were born and raised in Africa.
