The funeral will be at noon Saturday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Doug Norfleet officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. He was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Clarksville, son of John Robert Burney and Grace Rubel Burney. Mr. Burney was retired from the Clarksville Housing Authority. He was a charter member of the U.S. Horse Cavalry Association, a National Guardsman, a World War II veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Montgomery County Historical Society, an organizer of the East Montgomery Trail Riders and a member of the Madison Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Trice Burney; three sons, Charles Dennes Burney, Blue Grass, Iowa, Robert Wesley Burney, Knoxville, and Philip Lynn Burney, Springfield; and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers will be James Henley, Calvin Stokes, Carl Bellamy, Bradley Martin, Ken Trice, Charlie Burney, Thomas Burney, Wesley Burney and Rob Burney.
