My 6X great grandfather was John Burney, born appx. 1725 in Ireland. He married Catherine Lackey. I don't know a thing about the scandal you mentioned, but I am intrigued. My John was the father of William Burney. William's son David had a son named Lindsey Mabry Burney. Lindsey's daughter Margaret married A. J. Davis. A.J. was my grandfather's grandfather. I don't know if any of this is helpful to you, but I would love to hear from you.
