The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, where the body will lie in state two hours before the service at Morrison Hill Christian Church, with Jess Ritenhouse and Dennis Mullen officiating. Burial will be in Kingston Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Kyker Funeral Home, Kingston. Kyker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He is a member of Morrison Hill Christian Church, past president of the Roane County Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Roane Industrial Development Board, past president of the Roane County Fair. He enjoyed his family, friends and traveling. Despite his health challenges, especially in recent months, he maintained his unique sense of humor and positive outlook continuously, living life to the fullest. He touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Watha Jane Burney; granddaughter, Jane Ellen Sims; father and mother, Joe Glendon and Sallie Belle Bishop Burney; sister, Loretta Burney Davis. He is survived by wife, Mary H. Burney of Kingston; daughters, Bonnye Burney, Karen Burney Prichard and husband Michael, Janet Burney Sims and husband Dan, all of Birmingham, Ala., Lisa Burney Tedder and husband Wayne of Bentonville, Ark.; stepdaughters, Cynthia Woolum Ariks and husband Billy, Tina Woolum Clark and husband Eric, all of Kingston; grandchildren, Austin, Stephen, Leah Dennis, Haley, Anna, David, Daniel Sims, and Melanie Brown, all of Birmingham, Ala., Matthew, Bradley, Scott Bedwell, and Landon Tedder, all of Bentonville, Ark., Amanda Brown of Harriman; Michael Greenwell and wife Tami of Athens, Casey, Logan, Kinzee, and Linzee Clark, all of Kingston, and Alex Clark of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Travis, Trenton Brown, both of Harriman, Jason, Jada Brown, both of Birmingham, Ala., Devin Greenwell, Hannah Cox, both of Athens; sister, JoAnn Minton and husband, Lucian of Greenbriar; brother, Wayne Burney and wife Jeaniene of Clarksville; numerous nieces, nephe! ws, extended family and friends. Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Michael Greenwell, Matthew, Bradley, Scott Bedwell, Austin, Stephen Dennis and Alex Clark.
