    3. BURNEY, Elizabeth Smith THE FLORIDA SENTINEL, 17 June 1851. OBITUARY. BURNEY, Malinda J. THE SENTINEL, 18 June 1844. MARRIED. On Thursday, the 6th June instant, at the residence of Silas F.Burney, Esquire on the MIccosookie Lake, by George E.Dennis, Esquire, JAMES H.TAYLOR, Esquire, of Jefferson, to Miss MALINDA J., daughter of Willis Burney, deceased, of this county. ------- BROOKS, Nancy Jane THE FLORIDIAN, 28 March 1835. HYMENEAL. In Jefferson county, on the 19th instant, by the Reverend Capel Riaford, Mr.RICHARD BURNEY, of Leon county, to Miss NANCY JANE BROOKS, of the former place. ----------- BYRD, Arthur Burney THE FLORIDIAN, 11 February 1862. Death of A.Burney Byrd. We record with feelings of deep regret the death of ARTHUR BURNEY BYRD, formerly of this State, but recently a citizen of Texas. He was 1st Lieutenant of a Company of Volunteers from that State, and was on his way to the seat of war in Virginia, where he was taken sick with Typhoid Fever, of which he died after a lingering illness in Richmond. Among those who have fallen prey to disease during the war, none possessed higher attributes to make the true and accomplished soldier, in whatever grade he may have been placed, than BURNEY BYRD. He was possessed of the capacity of mind, of strong physical development and an enduring constitution, with a high and generous ambition in the new sphere upon which he had entered, remarkable for his personal bravery, coolness and self-possession, with a soul to dare any anger-in no one were blended better the qualities to ensure success in the military career upon which he had entered. Alas, he has fallen, a prey to disease upon the threshold of the struggle consequent upon the maintainance of principles to which he has been devoted since the hour of manhood, at the early age of twenty-eight. He was a high-toned gentleman and a devoted friend, frank, kind and sincere in his relations with others. He leaves a father, --- brothers, and many relations and numerous friends to mourn his death, rendered doubly sad by occurring away from them all, amid the gloom and suffering of a military hospital. ----------- BURNEY, Susan C. THE FLORIDA SENTINEL, 13 August 1850. OBITUARY. Died in Macon, Georgia, on the 3d instant, Mrs.SUSAN C.BURNEY, wife of S.F.Burney, of this city, in the 22d year of her age. Cut off in youth, and in the second month of wedded life, the blow falls heavily on her parents and friends, and with redoubled force on him whose happiness had so recently been crowned by their union. ------------ BURNEY, Silas F. THE FLORIDA SENTINEL, 1 March 1853. OBITUARY. Dued at Benton, Alabama, SILAS F.BURNEY, Esquire, recently of this city. --------- Died of Gastris, on the 10th instant, on Lake Miccossukie, in the twentieth year of her age, Mrs.ELIZABETH BURNEY, wife of Richard M.Burney, and eldest daughter of Patrick and Sarah Smith. The character of the deceased needs no panegyric. To know her was to love her, and those who knew her best loved her most. Her loss may indeed well be mourned as that of an affecionate and dutiful daughter, and wife, and friend, whose gentle influence was ever felt for good; but chiefly in her religious character, will her memory be cherished. In her the Methodist Church has lost one its most faithful and exemplary members, whose daily walk and conversation adorned and illustrated her profession, and whose death displayed the power of a saving faith. Upon her sick bed her thoughts and prayers dwelt much and earnestly upon the spiritual interests of those whose destinies in life had been linked with her's. She was able to bear her physical sufferings with a cheerful resignation, and in the article of death to say, with pious confidence..."Though He slay me yet will I trust in Him." -- - ------------------------------------------------- The Brooks Historian - Bill Brooks http://home.fda.net/bbrooks/public_html/brooks.htm http://www.my-ged.com/db/surnames/bbrooks/A mailto:bbrooks@fda.net Surnames - ARCHER, BROOKS, BURNEY, EDMONDS, FREEMAN, GOFF, GRACE, HALL, KNAPP, MANNING, TAYLOR, WILSON - -------------------------------------------------
