They came from County Wexford in Ireland, RICHARD BURNEY and CATHERINE KENSLEY BURNEY in 1848 and settled in Waterford, Saratoga County New York, USA. They raised all their kids there and I have all of them through that generation and some in the next generation. But all, except for my great grandmother, ANNA (JOHANNA) BIRNEY who moved to and lived in Elkhorn Wisconsin, lived in and around Saratoga County New York. Whether the name is/was BIRNEY/BURNEY is unknown as they could not read or write for the census taker. The children of Richard and Catherine used both spellings. ANNA BIRNEY insisted on the BIRNEY spelling. Any help given greatfully and accepted with appreciation.
