He married twice but as far as we can tell only had children with his second wife, Alice Montora Tillman. Elonzo and Alice are buried in the Damascus Cemetery near Gallman, Copiah Co., MS. Children of Elonzo (note: I have seen it spelled Alonzo) and Alice were: Fannie Talitha Burney, b. 1865, d. 1936; Richard Andrew Burney (my wife's grandfather), b. 30 May 1867, d. 14 Dec 1962 in Crystal Springs, Copiah Co., MS. Oscar Hackett Burney, b. 1870; Benjamin Tillman Burney, b. 1872; Mary Emma Burney, b. 1876; Alice Burney, b. 1878, d. at age 2. Richard Andrew Burney m. Lucille Johnson, b. 22 Mar 1882, d. 4 Dec 1945. They were m. in Nov. 1911. Their child is Ina Louise Burney, currently 92 years old and living in Copiah Co., MS. My wife is her only child. Alonzo and Alice both died of tuberculosis before their oldest child was 15. Fannie Talitha and her brother Richard Andrew raised their siblings Oscar Hacket, Benjamin Tillman and Mary Emma. Am trying to find more information on these children and their descendants.
