    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/yAH.2ACIB/216.1 Message Board Post: I notice Fannin Co is in North Texas. I would need given names and dates to see if I need the info you have. Most of the Burneys in my line were from Kerr County; however, some of the younger generation (which I know nothing about) could have gone to Fannin County.

    1. [BURNEY] msn.com subscriber problems
    2. Msn.com has been rejecting rootsweb.com mail recently and this has caused messages to be bounced resulting in msn.com subscribers being unsubscribed from the mailing list. The 'powers that be' at rootsweb.com are trying to work this out with msn.com 'powers...' but thus far there hasn't been a lot of success in restoring msn.com subscriber's email services from rootsweb.com. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. In the meantime, msn.com subscribers may have to get a separate email service with another isp, such as Yahoo!. I do *not* recommend Hotmail.com because they are owned by msn.com. I'll let you know how things progress. In the meantime, msn.com subscribers may read any mailing list messages by going to the archives, http://archiver.rootsweb.com/. Tom Wilde Listmanager

    1. [BURNEY] Willis A. Burney Georgia 1800s
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: BURNEY, BAKER, WHITEHEAD Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/yAH.2ACIB/215 Message Board Post: The following will explain the Burney connection. Could this be the same Willis Arthur Burney of Florida? I believe that the E. B. Baker of McIntosh Co., Georgia in the 1850 census is my g.g.g. grandfather. E. B. Baker 58 Frances 40 (written over, could be another number) John L. 21 Druggist Margaret A. 18 Julia R. 16 Susan A. 14 Sabra E. 12 William M. 10 Joseph B. 8 Nathaniel 6 Anna M. 4 Benjamin B. 25 Teacher (Is he a child of this family?) This is possibly Benjamin Bright Baker. Edwin B. Baker is shown in Liberty Co., Georgia Marriages as marrying Frances Leonard Jurdine on Dec. 21, 1820. Either the marriage date or Frances’ age on the census is wrong—it is not likely that she married at 10 years of age. The name Leonard is used by several of my ancestors—my grandmother Jonanna Leonard Baker (daughter of John L.) for instance. I have not found E. B. Baker in the 1860 census but John is still in McIntosh Co, Georgia: Hh.# 14 Jn L. Baker 31 (It looks like his occupation is City Officer) Mary E.[?] Baker 24 Edward B. Baker 3 Cornelia L. I.[or J.] Baker 8/12 Wm M. W. Baker 21 Clerk [This must be John’s brother] I found a marriage for Benjamin B. Baker to Mary M. Wilcox in Telfair Co. 7 Aug. 1853, but I could not locate them in the 1860 census; however, there is a Mary Baker with daughter Frances in the household of Sarah Baker in Telfair Co in 1860. This Mary has a daughter Frances, who is 6 and since Benjamin and Mary married in 1853, this is likely the same person. There is a grave for Benjamin Bright Baker (no dates given) in the Baker-Thorpe Cemetery near the Harris Neck community in McIntosh Co. John L. Baker must have died before 1870 since Mary G[eorgia] is now married to Willis A. Burney: Hh # 46: Burney, Willis A. 39 Brick Mason “ Mary G. 30 “ W. A. Jr. 7/12 Baker, E. B. 13 Clerk in store “ C. L. 10 “ Sarah L. 7 (I believe that this name is wrong and that this is my g. grandmother JonAnna Leonard Baker, since the age is correct.) I have been searching for the parents of JonAnna for many years and recently received her family Bible. In it was a copy of “A Memorium” for her which stated that she was from Darien, Georgia. Also, there was a note stating that Mary Georgia Burney died on Nov. 7, 1901 in Long Beach, Mississippi. No relationship is stated but JonAnna and her husband Charles Thomas Whitehead named one of their sons Willis Arthur Whitehead (apparently for her step-father, Willis A. Burney). If anyone can confirm this relationship or give me any information on these people, I would appreciate it. Also in the Bible was a letter, written Jan. 4, 1853, from Brunswick, Georgia, addressed to “Mon Ami Phil’ and signed “Imogene” (in quotation marks). He appears to be in Savannah. I would be glad to send a copy to anyone who might be able to identify these people.

Louella graduated from Union Female College, Oxford, Mississippi. She married S. S. Scales and they had two children: Lucie Ann Scales and Nathaniel Fields Scales. I have no dates on any of these individuals. S.S. was the son of Dr. Nathan F Scales. He graduated from the University of Mississippi and was a successful merchant. I hope you can find the Web Site. It was Jan 2001 when I found it and printed out most of the information on the Burneys.

    2. Anna Farris
    3. Hi All , Thanks for all the help you are doing. I had been searching my Massey line for five years before I found that Sarah Jane Burney was my GrGrandmother. I do not even know where she is buried, I do know where she isn't, that is not by My GrGrand- father in Miller Co.,Ark. at Enon Church Cemetery. There are two grandchildren buried beside him but not Sarah Jane. The last census I found her on was 1910 Miller Co.,Ark. She was a widow John died before the census was taken that year. She had a neice and a nephew, a sisters children I think, sur- name was Rainey. Again Thank You All for the help. Always, Anna

    3. Hi , I am here and still searching for my Gr grandmom she was the daughter B. Burney and V.A. Burney ( as they appeared on the 1880 census of Attala Co., Ms.) Her name was Sarah Jane, born 1875-76. She married John Holland Massey ca. 1887 . I need the full name of her parents so I can go farther in my search. I am not sure but I think he is Benjamin Burney that is on the census in 1870 Holmes Co., Ms. with Simon Burney. I need actual proof to go back any farther. I have been unable to find any marriage records for them , I believe John was married before he married Sarah Jane as there are older children in the home with them on the 1900 hundred census of Caddo Parish, La. Please help if you can, I have become a desperate woman in search of her past. Always searching, Anna Lou Massey Farris

I know Tommy and knew Dick and have met his sisters, a couple of times, years ago.when he found I had a computer and did my family genealogy he asked me to do his. So all I was looking for were Dorothy's parents, siblings, their parents and siblings and back. And especially where they came from originally. I knew Dorothy very well and she would come and visit me when I lived in Minnesota. I met her through her high school friend, Veronica. Thanks so much for your response. Take care, Darlene

    1. [BURNEY] RootsWeb AUP concerning advertising on mailing lists
    2. As administer for nine separate RootsWeb.com mailing lists, I've noticed that just this week there have been violations of RootsWeb's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) on two of my lists. The following is presented here for clarification of that policy. RootsWeb's AUP about commercial advertising on their mailing lists is found at http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/aup.html. The pertinent paragraph is: > "Commercial activities require permission. > RootsWeb's intent is to provide a friendly and, as much as > possible, noncommercial environment. Any activity that involves the > exchange of money requires prior permission from RootsWeb.com." Please pay particular attention to that last sentence quoted above. You must obtain *prior* approval from RootsWeb.com in order to advertise anything for sale on RootsWeb's mailing lists. (In my opinion, since all of the mailing lists I administer are gatewayed to Ancestry.com's message boards, then that policy also applies to the postings on those message boards.) Someone asked me what would be acceptable. My reply is this: give a brief description of the item but do *not* give a price. Then provide a name, email address and/or telephone number of the person to contact for further information. Nothing else! I do appreciate your understanding in this matter. I do not make up these rules. I only enforce them as part of my duties as a RootsWeb mailing list administrator. Tom Wilde Administrator for BURNEY-L, GRANTHAM-L, MCHARG-L, MNDAKOTA-L, MILNER-L, MUCKLE-L, KISSAM-L, WILDE-L and WOODHOUSE-L mailing lists.
