Note that the battle of Bunker Hill was 1775 in Massachusetts, so even without the correct information from the pension, very unlikely. Samuel's service, per his pension papers was in 1780-1781 in South Carolina. I tend to doubt the "buried with military honors" as well, but who knows. I have contacted both the SAR & DAR chapters in the area of Florence, and neither know where Samuel is buried at. Samuel's pension file is a part of the National Archives series M804, Revolutionary war pension and bounty-land-warrant application files. You can borrow the specific roll with Samuel's pension file on it from your nearest FHL; it is: -- Burnett, Andrew - Burney, Samuel - FHL US/CAN Film [ 970419 ] Regards, dave

In 1836 had a land reserve in Chickasaw County, Mississippi in 1836. He died at Linn ( I.T.) in 1870. In 1835 he sold some land in Monroe County. In September 1840, he and five members of his family, as well as 18 slaves were scheduled to go west, but did not go. He remained in Chickasaw County until December 1843, when he, his family, and his mother, headed west. They took a circuituous route that carried them through Shrevesport, Louisiana where a son, Benjamin, was born on January 15, 1844. Later on in the year, David filed a claim for emmigration expenses. The 1847 census lists him as half white, head of household that consisted of one male under 18, one male over 18, four females under 16, and two females over 16. He then owned 19 slaves. In 1855 he lived in the Chickasaw District, his household including Emily, Mary, Wesley, Margaret, Frances, Benjamin, Susan, and Rebecca. He was married twice. First to Lucy James who died in 1845.
