Sorry, my Absalom Burn appears in 1804 in South Carolina when he married Ann Lide. We know all descendants except grandchildren of his daughter Elizabeth, who married a Godwin. I was interested to learn that two Burn brothers from Tyne-something in England had come to Australia about the time Absalom appeared in America. I don't know anything more about them, either! susanned99@aol.com
Hello You mention in your message someone with the surname BURN coming from Tyne-something--It could be Tynemouth ! I have ancestors with the surname BURN from Sunderland, Co Durham, England. This is just a river crossing from Tynmouth, people often went by ferry. The surname BURN AND BURNS is quite a common surname in the Tynmouth and Northumberland area. My great-great grandfather JAMES BURN born 1845 Sunderland married Ann PADGET, was a tabacco pipe maker on the 1881 census. His father JOHN BURN born 1818 Sunderland married Elizabeth RIDLEY was a Mariner he married , his father THOMAS BURN born 1798 ? was also a tobacco pipe maker on the 1851 census in Sunderland he married Elizabeth . THOMAS's father was also THOMAS according to his marriage but i have been unable to find anything about where he came from.
