    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FlG.2ACEB/77 Message Board Post: I am trying to find information on a William H.W. Burn and family. William Burn (senior) was born about 1856 or ' 57 in New York City. He married Elizabeth Schilling, born 1866 or ' 67 in Canada. They moved to Bristol, Connecticut at some point in time and had at least 4 children, the fourth child being William H.W. Burn (junior), born Aug 6, 1893, died in Los Angeles, California Dec 24, 1971. I am trying to see if William senior is the older brother of Henrietta Burn, daughter of Charles Burn & Henrietta Webb (all from NYC). Also I think Elizabeth Schilling-Burn is the sister to George H. Schilling who married Henrietta Burn, William's sister. I will be duplicating this post in Bristol board and NYC board. Thanks, Debbie

I don't know if he was born there or not, simply per my great-grandmother's death certificate and her listings on Census records they state father from NYC. Charles Burn married Henrietta Webb, their daughter HENRIETTA BURN is my great-grandmother. I did pay for a birth certificate search on Henrietta Burn, but apparently none exists, or so NYC tells me and keeps my money. I have not been very successful in locating them on a Census record in NYC. Henrietta Burn was born June 20, 1863 in NYC. Her father Charles Burn maybe around 1840 +/- (that's an estimated guess). Could use some help in locating this branch of the BURN family.

The missing Samuel jnr was convicted at Beds Quarter Sessions 1824 of 'poaching with snares' - sentencing records not available - so far no trace of his marriage or death in UK - I suppose he may have died before 1837 or been transported - but I believe all coincidences are worth checking and wonder if any of the people who are folowing Burn/Burns in the Whitby area know of the origins of the HOLDWAY bit of the names you are mentioning - if they gave the same name to two children, it was may have been significant for their family. I know there were Holdways in Yorkshire, but have never come upon a Samuel.
