If you have an Absalom Burn who was in South Carolina, USA, in 1800, when he married Ann Lide, there's a chance. That's all I know of his history before that time. Wish I could help! susanne
I don't have a definite answer for you, but I suspect we may have a link. My g-g-g-g-grandfather, Joseph BURN married Barbara TATE Jun 6, 1790 in Felton, Northumberland. Additionally, Joseph's first cousin, William BURN had a daughter, Ann who was baptized Nov 28, 1790 in Netherwitton, Northumberland. If you are familiar with the area, or look at a map of Northumberland, you will see that Longframlington, Felton and Netherwitton are all very close to each other. I do have a fairly extensive family tree built for this family, going back to Peter BURNE born c. 1690 in Longframlington and am also in touch with several other members of the family. Let me know if you think there's a connection, and I'll be happy to provide you with what I have and to put you in touch with the others. Best Regards Derek Derek S. Hello You mention in your message someone with the surname BURN coming from Tyne-something--It could be Tynemouth ! I have ancestors with the surname BURN from Sunderland, Co Durham, England. This is just a river crossing from Tynmouth, people often went by ferry. The surname BURN AND BURNS is quite a common surname in the Tynmouth and Northumberland area. My great-great grandfather JAMES BURN born 1845 Sunderland married Ann PADGET, was a tabacco pipe maker on the 1881 census. His father JOHN BURN born 1818 Sunderland married Elizabeth RIDLEY was a Mariner he married , his father THOMAS BURN born 1798 ? was also a tobacco pipe maker on the 1851 census in Sunderland he married Elizabeth . THOMAS's father was also THOMAS according to his marriage but i have been unable to find anything about where he came from.
