I'm caught up now for the most part. :-) Rick ==================== FROM THE NEWSPAPERS >From Rick Berkheiser http://archives.pottsville.com/archives/2002/Oct/16/E528549A.htm Obits -- October 16, 2002 Rachel Simonds Rachel Simonds, 89, of Frederick Mennonite Community, Frederick, for 16 years, formerly of Pottsville and Amity Township, Berks County, died Saturday at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, where she was admitted Oct. 9. Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late William M. and Anna Morgan Berkheiser. She worked in various secretarial and financial positions, retiring from National Bank of Boyertown. She was a member of New Hanover United Methodist Church, Gilbertsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton M., in 1986; a stepdaughter, Ruth Simonds Lee; two sisters, Marian Shirk and Mary Morris. Surviving are two sons, Douglas S., Sassamansville, and Donald M., Kensington, Md.; a sister, Edna Gattey, Newtown Square; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren. Private graveside services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Gabriel's Episcopal Cemetery, Douglassville. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Frederick Mennonite Community. There will be no viewing. Born in Apr 1865 in Schuylkill Co., PA. Alvin Daniel died abt 1946, he was 80. Occupation: switchman. >From the 1890 Directory - Frackville - pg. 220 - BERKHEISER, Alvin D., 25, switchman. Nice st. Angie, Harry 4, Clarence 1. On 25 Dec 1885 when Alvin Daniel was 20, he married Angeline (Angie) Seitzinger, daughter of Alfred Seitzinger & Louisa (Louise) Bringer, in Frackville, Schuylkill Co., PA. Born in Sep 1866. Angeline (Angie) died abt 1948, she was 81. They had the following children: i. Harry, 3C2R. Born in Oct 1886 in Schuylkill Co., PA. Harry died abt 1921, he was 34. 2 ii. Clarence Berkheiser, 3C2R. Born in Jun 1889 in Schuylkill Co., PA. Clarence died in Frackville, Schuylkill Co., PA abt 1954, he was 64. Abt 1909 when Clarence was 19, he married Mary Cooper.They had one child: Clarence S. Carl August Anderson died at Epworth [Memorial] hospital Sunday morning after an illness of nine weeks with typhoid fever, aged 28 years. Mr. Anderson was born in Sweden and came to this city about one year ago. He leaves a father in Sweden and one brother, Gust Anderson, and one sister, Miss Tillie Anderson, living in this city. The funeral will be held from the residence of Gust Anderson, 1536 Prairie avenue, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Mr. Borg officiating. The remains will be laid to rest in the city cemetery. -------------------- "The South Bend Weekly Tribune", Saturday, March 18, 1905, page 11 Clementina Mikolajczak. Clementina, the four months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mikolajczak, living at 833 Kosciusko street, died Thursday after a short illness.
