The schoolcrafts marrying Indian "princesses" goes all the way back to Henry Rowe Schoolcraft and his brother James (came from Scotland) marrying native sisters of descendants of the Johnson's of New York, then locating in Michigan as Indian Agents per the records of the Schoolcraft College there.
