John Burkey to my knowledge was born in Germany. It am unaware of any possible German last names that had become Burkey. I would love information on my grandpa's side. John Burkey was born 09 OCT 1819 in Schorbach, Alzey, Rheinhessen, Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany. He was the first in the US. He died in Lancaster, PA. At some point my grandpa moved from Lancaster, PA to Chicago, IL. It looks at if some of the Burkey family lived near Chicago, IL.
