Does any one know the orgin of the last name? Far as which country it came from bc I've heard Wales, Germany, Norway, Austria I'm not sure if those are correct .. My dads family is from Ohio stubenville, my grandpa bill Burkey was married to Joann swiger they are in the west virgina area now. The good news is that members of OMII can still access these databases and the membership is only $6 a year. The Kidron database is worth the $6 by itself if you have Berkey/Burkey connections. Don't think our families are directly tied together, but I currently live in the Steubenville OH area. There are Burkey families still in this area and farther north in Youngstown. Chad, Try your public library, they may have a subscription to Ancestry.com that can be accessed at the library for free. In the meantime, post what you know to this site ... somebody may be researching the same line. Make sure to include as many names, dates and places that you can.
