Mr. Burkey was born March 31, 1921, in Columbiana, Ohio (Columbiana County) a son of John and Elizabeth Hough Burkey. He moved from Fremont, Ohio to Florida 25 years ago. He had been employed as a long distance truck driver for several companies. He was an Army veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union Local 20 of Toledo, Ohio and a 33rd Degree Mason. He leaves his wife, Evelyn Burkey of Casselberry, Florida; a sister, Mary Rohrman of New Middletown, Ohio; a half-sister, Helen Olsen of Bend, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.
