She was surrounded by her loving family. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville most of her life. She was a homemaker, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was of the Catholic faith, and was preceded in death by her parents, Monnie and Katie Blanton; a brother, Gene Blanton; and a sister, Alene Strickland. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, James J. Burke of Glennville; sons and daughters-in-law: Joey and Linda Burke, Mark Burke, and Andy and Jan Burke, all of Glennville; a daughter, Tammy Burke of Roberta; a sister, Barbara Harp of Savannah; a grandson, Bryce Burke of Glennville; stepgranddaughters, Bonnie and Mary Lawrence of Roberta; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Remembrances can be made to Pearls of Life Hospice, 13 South Newton Street, Claxton, Georgia 30417; or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 188, Reidsville, Georgia 30453. Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
