My direct line to the BURKE family is as follows: Sarah Locklin TAYLOR - daughter of, James Lee LOCKLIN (1921, TX-1986, TX)- son of, Eva BURKE (1891, TX-1970, TX)- daughter of, Dowen Sibley BURKE (abt 1871, MO-1940, TX) - son of, James Dowen BURKE (1847, MO-1917, TX)- son of, Joseph Reyburn BURKE (1823, MO-bef 1850, MO) James Lee LOCKLIN md. Henrietta Marie BENAD, 12 November 1950, Freer, Duvall Co., TX. James Lee was born 11 October 1921, Detmold, Milam Co., TX and died 15 September 1986, in the hospital, Temple, Bell Co., TX. Henrietta Marie BENAD, daughter of Gustav BENAD and Edith Myrtle HERRING, was born 23 September 1931, Williamson Co., TX and died, 9 June 1985, in the hospital, Temple, Bell Co., TX. Both are buried in the LOCKLIN Cemetery, San Gabriel, Milam Co., TX. They have 4 children surviving them, including myself, Sarah Janell LOCKLIN TAYLOR. Eva BURKE md. Theodore Francis LOCKLIN, 12 May 1912, Milam Co., TX (?). Eva and Theodore had 4 children, Francis Burke LOCKLIN, Samuel Dixon LOCKLIN, James Lee LOCKLIN, and Edna Earle LOCKLIN. Eva was born 11 April 1891, Carthage, Panola Co., TX and died 3 February 1970, Thorndale, Milam Co., TX. Theodore, son of Samuel Griffith LOCKLIN and Sarah Frances LARGE, was born 5 January 1895, Thorndale, Milam Co., TX and died 18 May 1954, in the hospital, Galveston, Galveston Co., TX. Both are buried at the LOCKLIN Cemetery, San Gabriel, Milam Co., TX. Dowen Sibley BURKE md. Cora Louise PAGE (?), 15 August 1889. Dowen Sibley was born abt. 1871, Cass Co., MO and died April 1940, Jacksonville, Cherokee Co., TX. He is buried at the City Cemetery, Jacksonville, Cherokee Co., TX. Cora Louise PAGE was born about 1870. I have no further information for Cora. Dowen Sibley BURKE and Emma Louise SMITH had 2 children, Eva BURKE and James Clyde BURKE. James Dowen BURKE md. Emma Louise SMITH, 3 Jan. 1869, in Saline Co., MO. I only know of 2 children born to this marriage, Dowen Sibley BURKE and Arthur Lee BURKE. James Dowen was born 1 Jan. 1847, St. Clair Co., MO, and died 23 May 1917, Angelina Co., TX. He is buried at Ryan Chapel Cemetery. Emma Louise SMITH, daughter of Gervas Storrs SMITH and Mary Booth SIBLEY, was born 10 November 1842, New Castle, Henry Co., KY, and died 19 September 1919, Angelina Co., TX. I am told she is also buried at Ryan Chapel Cemetery. Any information connected to this BURKE family would be greatly appreciated.
