I am not related to this person, just thought I would post it in case it is helpful to someone. Lowell Sun Lowell MA October 25, 1972 Martin J. Burke ....widely known Lowell bartender Martin J. Burke, husband of Edna M. (Giblin) Burke, R.N., of 19 Belmont St. a widely known resident of this city, died yesterday at St. John's hospital. He was born in Lowell in the Acre, the son of the late Martin J. and the late Mary (Jordan) Burke, and was a graduate of St. Patrick's Boys School. Prior to his retirement, he had been a bartender for 37 years in several well known local bars, most notable was the 25 years he had worked at the Rex in downtown Lowell where he was the founder of the Cheese Club and many other such groups. He was a member of St. Margaret's parish for the past 28 years, the parish Holy Name society, the Lowell Lodge of Elks, a charter member of the Greater Lowell Clover Club, and the Lowell Bartenders Union. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Maureen) Richard of Stamford, Conn., and Mrs. Gary (Edna) Boyle of Lowell, eight grandchildren, Kathleen, Mark, Karen and John Richard, Laureen, Gary, Scott and Todd Boyle, ! two sisters, Mrs. Helen McCready of Lowell and Mrs. Christina Coyle of Tyngsboro, and a brother, Thomas B. Burke of Lowell.
