BURKE, 86 HOLLAND, Pa. - Gertrude A. (Carroll) Burke, 86, of Holland, formerly of Worcester, died March 15 in Twining Village Health Care after an illness. Her husband of 62 years, John E. Burke, died in 1997. She leaves a son, Dermot Burke of New Egypt, N.J.; two daughters, Deirdre Clark of Fredericksburg, Va., and Alanna Berra of Santa Fe., N.M.: a brother, Austin Carroll of Westminster, Mass.; and six grandchildren. She was born in Bel Air, Md., daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Ryder) Carroll, and lived many years in Worcester. She then lived many years in Fredericksburg, Va., and several years in Holland. She graduated from Ascension High School and Worcester State Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Burke was a licensed practical nurse at Worcester State and Fairlawn hospitals in Worcester for many years before she retired. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Worcester. A committal service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at St. John's Cemetery, 260 Cambridge St., Worcester.
