Dear Burke List, My mother in law is one of the few remaining Orphan Train Riders. She was born "Baby Girl Flynn" on Sept. 23, 1915 to an unwed mother and sent out west on the Orphan Train from the NY Foundling Home. Her mother's name on the birth cert. is Mary Flynn, born in Ireland around 1895 and was living at 799 Lexington Ave., NY, NY. Now here's where you guys come in. The New York State Census for 1915 lists a Dr. Richard F. BURKE & family living at that address. Mary Flynn is not listed but the census was taken June 1st so she may have moved in sometime between June & September. Other members of the Burke family listed are: Sister, Eleanor, age 45 Daughter, Alice, age 22 Son, Wallace, age 11 Lodger, Morris Davidson age, 17 I know this is a long shot. Mary Flynn may have just been a border or Dr Burke may have taken in many unwed mothers needing help. But it's also possible there is a family connection and contacting any member of this Burke family may give us the clue we need to find my mother in law's family. She is 86 this year and her fondest wish is to find out if she has or had siblings or nephews and nieces. I'd like to make that wish come true. Thank you for any help, Susan
