Since the RootsWeb Listmaster could not elicit a response from the previous BURKE listowner, the BURKE list has been assigned to me for management. Currently, I manage both the BURK and BURKE lists on the RootsWeb server. Since BURK and BURKE are often used interchangeably in documents from one to the next and possibly in the same document, I would like to propose linking these to lists (if possible) whereby it will not be necessary to subscribe to both lists to monitor queries. The BURK list has 296 subscribers and the BURKE list has 241 subscribes; perhaps, many of the subscribers are subscribed to both lists. My ancestors have been documented as BIRKS, BURKS, BURKES, BURK and BURKE; therefore, it seem logical to link the BURK and BURKE lists. Comments are welcome. Jim Young
I think you are perfectly right.... I also have many of the same different spellings and I think it would help us all to have one list for same name with different spellings Thank you!! mp [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Young <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 16, 2000 11:39 AM Subject: [BURKE] ADMIN: List Management > Since the RootsWeb Listmaster could not elicit a response from the previous > BURKE listowner, the BURKE list has been assigned to me for management. > > Currently, I manage both the BURK and BURKE lists on the RootsWeb server. > > Since BURK and BURKE are often used interchangeably in documents from one > to the next and possibly in the same document, I would like to propose > linking these to lists (if possible) whereby it will not be necessary to > subscribe to both lists to monitor queries. It seems like the right way to do things. My family had its name spelled Bourke in Ireland and Burke In the US. It will help to have them all together. ----- Original Message ----- From: Margie Phelps <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 16, 2000 11:57 AM Subject: Re: [BURKE] ADMIN: List Management > I think you are perfectly right....
