    3. Listers, I recently found in the Bath County News-Outlook an article printed in April of 1910. I am going to send it out, since I have been two years trying to find a trace of my husband's gggrandparents. The grandmother is listed as Sarah Burk/Burke/Buck. This is the first clue I have had to the fact that there may have been a family of Burks in that area. This is for those who are interested in the Eastern Kentucky Burk/Burke/Buck family. April 14, 1910 Nesbitt Johnson, of Grange City, brought ot this office the following objects of interest: A copy of A. Pickett's Juvenile Spelling Book, published in Wheeling, WV, in 1827; a copy of Samuel Kirham's English Grammar, published in Cincinnati in 1841, and a grapeshot recomvered from a sunken boat at Burk's Island, in Licking River. It was cast ten years ago at the Slate Furnace ans was intended for use by General Andrew Jackson at New Orleans. The thing of interest to me is the fact that there is a Burk Island in the Licking River. Sarah Burk/Burke mother of Jerimiah Vanlandingham. ==== BURK Mailing List ==== Have a question, recommendation or comment about RootsWeb or this list, please direct same to the list moderator: Jim Young <[email protected]> Issues of general membership interest should be directed to the list: [email protected] =======================================================
