Interment will be in the St.Joseph Cemetery. Mr. Burk, a lifelong resident of Peoria and vicinity, died at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at his home. He was born in East Peoria, November 11, 1871, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth(Wiles) Burk. His family moved here when he was a small child, and he had lived in Peoria and Bartonville since. Beginning work in the coal mines as a young boy, he was familiarly called "Trapper" and was known to many by that name. He was a member of local union No. 25, Progressive Miner of America. On June 28 1893, he married Miss Frances Maurath. Surviving are his wife and five children, Edward Burk, Lowell,Mass., Joseph and Wilbur Burk, Mrs.Harry (Rosella) Meyer and Mrs. Norbert (Florence) Frietsch, of Peoria; 12 grandchildren; and five brothers, John, William, Thomas, Edward and Joseph,all of Peoria.
