    1. Re: [BURKE] [BURK] Remove
    2. In your request to be removed from the list, I think you are missing something very critical and would urge you to reconsider. I'm critisizing you but simply want to pass this information along which you might not have considered. My family does in fact spell the name as BURKE, but throughout my research I have seen it spelled as BURKE, BURK, or BIRK in a variety of resources. I serve as a look up volunteer for the RAGK website and just this past weekend I was asked to do a look up in the 1900 census for someone researching your same spelling - BIRKS. I looked several times for their John BIRKS and came up empty, until lo and behold, I found him listed in the census as John BURKE. Another example from a look up I did this past weekend was for someone wanting a death certificate for someone by the name of RISEM. I searched forever until I found her listed as RISEN (with an "N"). Everyone must keep in mind that names changed frequently throughout the years and were subject to however the census taker or registrar wanted to spell names. If you don't consider alternate spellings you are bound to miss finding your ancestors. Good luck.
