    1. [BURKE] Re: [BURK] Burk/Burke Frank(lin) Pierce
    2. To Harold Wilson, I got excited at first and thought I might have something - but it didn't turn out. My James Austin Burke lived in Texas from mid-1800's till his death in Goliad, Goliad Co, TX in 1892. He served well several military actions, including the Civil War, and also was County Clerk of Goliad for many years. He would have been too old to father your Frank, however he had eight sons with his second wife Joan E. Welch: James A., Ross E., Robert E., J. Gus, Shelby, William H., Thomas and John F. My grandmother was daughter of one of them, I'm guessing Robert E., because her brother's name was Robert A. I don't have enough details yet to know if one of his sons could have been Frank's father, but I'm expecting more information from my cousin, and I'll look to see what we have when I get it. Good luck, in the meantime, Pat Cross Davis Texas ==== BURK Mailing List ==== To unsubscribe from the BURK-L list (single message mode), send an email message to: [email protected] To unsubscribe from the BURKE-L list, send an email message to: [email protected] Enter only the following word: UNSUBSCRIBE in both the subject line and body of the message. =======================================================

The one that really catches my eye is William H. and the John F. because my great-grandfather was William Hugh Sobey and his mother was Christina A Burke and they had a son John F(ranklin) Sobey. Christina also had a brother named William but I have no middle initial for him yet. My mother vaguely remembers him coming to visit in Upshur County, Texas when she was a child. Christina also had a brother named Frank and a son named a grandson named Hugh Franklin. She thinks maybe her uncle William Burke was from Colorado. Christina A Burke's brothers were all born in Ohio. Hugh John L Duncan C Frank Robert Charlie Stuart [Christina and her husband ended up in Upshur County, Texas after a stint in SD]. -- Rosalyn Alsobrook [email protected] http://home.earthlink.net/~ralsobrook/
