I learned about this project via the STREET list... BYU is conducting a global research project regarding DNA and family trees. Click on "Future Events" to see if they're coming to a city near you. Somewhere on the site, they mention that you can also organize an event in your city or mail in a sample. They draw blood and ask that you fill out a genealogy form for 4 generations (or at least what you know). So far, they've collected about 8,000 samples in the US and almost 7,000 samples outside of the US.
