She has been a resident of Peoria and Tazewell counties since infancy. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Wiles, was born in Ohio, March 4, 1842. Her husband died in Peoria May 18, 1910. Since his death, Mrs. Burk has resided at various times with her sons in Peoria. Six sons and one sister, all of Peoria; John, William, Christian, Thomas, Edward and Joseph, and Mrs. Julia Defenbaugh, survive. Funeral services will be held at the Wilton mortuary chapel Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will follow in Fon du Lac cemetery, E. Peoria. The Rev. Athanasius Ostmeyer will officiate. Burial will be in St.Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday and the rosary will be recited at 8. Mrs. Burk was the widow of Christ Burk, whom she married in Peoria June 28, 1893. He died here July 2, 1935. A lifelong resident of this community, she was born in Peoria county Feb 15, 1871, a daughter of David and Regina Streibich Maurath. She was a member of St.Boniface Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary society of the parish. Im looking for a Burk that lived in Adams County ILL. or lived in Marion County Mo. in 1878 or 1888 Burk married Ida M. Kennedy in 1860 lived in Lima ILL. Adams county. She moved to Marion County Mo. some where along the way she married a Burk (unknown first name) or at lease used his name and had a child Stephen A. Burk in 1879. They lived at Round grove town ship. Sarah Burk married Andrew Underwood and they had a son Elza Heggard Underwood b. April 5, 1876 in Malden, Kanawha County, West Virginia. Sarah died when Elza was a year or a little older. I have the 1900 census record form Canadian co. Ok. and I find a Mary Jane Burk and her two sons. in the Frisco township. with her is William D. Smith {bro} and Sarah E. Foster {sis}.
