Phoebe was born about 1814 and died in 1843. Milton and his second wife, Eliza Jane Miller, and large family later moved from Roane County, TN to Dade County, MO. I'd be interested in any other information you have about this family. I have an old family Bible with the names and birthdates of Milton's children if you're interested.

The 1850 Census I saw for Bidgeport shows Anthony Burke age 35 so he would have been born 1814-5. Mary 28, so 1821-2. Nicolas 7 so 1842-3, Andrew 6 so 1843-4, and Mary L. 1 so 1848-9. Everyone born in Ireland except Mary L. As I'm sure you know census dates can be wrong. The family bible gives Mary Burke from Co. Meath Ireland and dates. I also have a very old St. Vincent's Manual that belonged to Mary Bourke (her writing/spelling) and she noted "East Bridge Port, Oct. 9 1851". The family legend is that the family owned horses in Ireland and was well-to-do. I have a handwritten document from Iowa on the family that says Andrew was a carpenter in Ireland and the census lists both him and Mary as having been born in Ireland, so 1843-5 is probably a pretty good guess as to when they came over. They moved west sometime after the birth of Catharine (1854) and before when their son Andrew is listed working as a farm laboror (1860 Iowa census). Looking for Burkes is like looking for the needle in the haystack, but it's fun to try!

I looked at the 1850 census and your Mary L. was born in CT, so your relatives probably came to the US in about 1845-8. Do you know where your relatives came from? I was told mine were from County Cork,Ireland. Good luck with your search, and if I come accross any info I'll let you know.

I believe their oldest child, Nicholas, was born in Ireland so they must have immigrated sometime after his birth in 1843. My great great grandmother, Catharine, was born in 1854 in East Bridgeport. After that the family moved to Iowa. There were two other children I know of: Andrew Jr. (1844) and Mary L. (1849). If this is of interest, contact me as I have other information on this family.
