HI I am researching an Ellen Burke also. She was born in Ireland around 1842. She lived in Schenectady NY and was married to a Harman Wessels and they had five daughters. I have traced her back to Schenectady and then hit a brick wall. Don't know if she had siblings or what her parents names were. Yes, there are too many problems associated with One World Tree on ancestry.com. I have met a few others online who are also disturbed with the careless postings. I was going to use One World Tree to post my family data, but decided against it. I am afraid someone might claim a relationship which doesn't exist. I know that ancestry.com is encouraging it's users to submit inaccuracies when found on the transcribed Census' and have made some corrections for family given names & surnames. But you won't see me posting any family info on One World Tree. I will try to contact them again to see if changes can be made...there needs to be better oversight of theOWT. Perhaps submitters should be required to provide documentation of the submissions. And anyone with a beef about previous submissions should be able to make the necessary corrections.

My tree has GGrand father marrying his granddau! I have tried to correct - to no avail and I tried to contact submitter several times and get NO reply. I think we should put pressure on Ancestry to use more caution before printing and have submitters available for corrections. On my tree they have names of VERY young children which is a no no in this day and age!!!

Seeking those who have the accurate family information. I see other persons are working on this, including WFT and family data entries. Suspicious entries re family data include where Florence is married to herself, an obvious error in family data format(s). If you are one of those with accurate data I would like to contact you. Seeking firm factual data tp see of one of the several children of Irish immigrants living in Evanston, Wyoming about 1890 to 1910 who are identified as Ellen (Colbert ?) and Jeff (Jeffrey?) Burke are his parents. Jeff or Jeffrey worked, apparently as a flag man or fireman on steam trains for UPRR, perhaps in a maintenance shop there also for UPRR. I am uncertain the above are the parents of my relation and wish to confirm. John T Burke, b 18 Jan 1873 and died 11th Jan 1944 in Ogden, Weber Co., Utah. Occupation for long time was steam locomotive engineer for Union Pacific RR out of Ogden Utah. John Burke was of Irish descent, Catholic, and married to my great aunt Carolyn Mildred (Carrie) Rounds. She predeceased him in Utah. Her obit states that she also was Catholic, perhaps thru past form of modern day RCIA program, not certain she was raised Catholic, however. Carolyn Rounds Burke died 30 October 1937 at Ogden, Utah. She had siblings and at one time she lived with family members in Boise, Ada County. I have that info, of course. Thank you for your consideration in checking.

I see a wife, also from Ireland. Her first name is Ellen. I see WFT entry info but am suspicious of accuracy. I believe they had, perhaps, as many as ten children, or more. I think it extremely likely that one of these children may have been one John Thomas Burke b 18 Jan 1873 in Nebraska (probably Omaha) and who worked as steam engine engineer for UPRR out of Utah and on RR heading east to Denver, etc. He was Catholic, lived in Utah, and married to a Caroline Rounds in my family. I have photo which has him in it, wishing to compare with others who may have additional information and photos, or bible records. I see other entries (including a couple of errors) in WFT so asking via this format what can you share ?
There is a Dean Burke, wife of Harry in Silver Bow, Montana in 1930. She is 45 married when she was 22 - born in Montana, father born in Montana, mother in Missouri. In 1920, his wife's name is Brunette M. (hmmmmm). She is 35, born in Montana, father in Canada and mother in Missouri. That's all I could find - there were never any children listed with them. I have that she was born in Gallatin County, MT about 1882 as Devina Brunett(e). There are a number of various spellings of her first name and she did go by the nickname "Dean" sometimes. Another family member just found a record that has been the biggest possibility to date in hopes of finding her. The Montana Death Index lists Devina Burk died... Silver Bow County... 12 Aug 1951... born about 1884. Considering the population of Montana back then, the location of the death fitting well and the rarity of the name Devina... this is an incredible find. (Have to consider the spelling "Burke" too when searching records.) Does ANYONE out there have ANY information that could help me with this? I'd be sooo grateful ! We'd all but given up hope of ever tracking her down. Thanks Terri
