Prospect Hall, at Fifth street and Prospect Avenue, was packed almost to suffocation last night with the relatives and friends of the young women constituting the graduating class of St. John the Evangelist School. A most elaborate programme - which, by the way, will be repeated tonight - had been arranged and was rendered without flaw. It consisted of choruses, trios, instrumental and vocal duets and solos, a novel and interesting international flag drill and an operetta, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Graduating honors will be conferred tonight and there will be the usual valedictory and class song. The class which will be graduated is as follows: BENNETT, Mary F. BURKE, Margaret L. CURRAN, Agnes I. DUFFY, Anna M. DUFFY, Julia V. DUFFY, Margaret J. HICKEY, Josephine V. HORGAN, Agnes C. HURLEY, Mary U. KUDLATA, Frances M. MARTEIL, Frances M. MC LOUGHLIN, Jennie C. 1. seeking Burk(e) & Wheeler family descendents from Montana – mainly Butte area
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Burke, Burk, Wheeler, McGuire, Brunett, Brunette, Woolsey Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RkG.2ACEB/3057 Message Board Post: Info on my Great grandmother has been finally tracked down after 25 years of searching !! We lost track of her after 1900 but recently found her. I sure would like to know more about her and I’d give anything for ANY photo of her or any family photos which include her. I’ve been unable to track down a picture of her even when she was young. I’m hoping to find any Burke, Wheeler or even McGuire family descendent out there who might be able to assist me. PLEASE!! If anyone out there has any of those named family ancestors from the Butte, Montana area… could you please check your family records for any info on Great Grandmother? I also have yet to locate a marriage license for Harry & Devina in any Montana records I’ve checked. (she might have used surname Johnson instead of Brunett on it) Below I’ve listed some info on her and her husband: (I don’t believe they had any children together) Devina “Dean” Mary (Brunett) Burke was born 20 June 1882 or 1884 – Bozeman, Montana to Theophile & Emily (Woolsey) Brunett(e) sometime after 1900 she married Harry W. Burke and they lived at 228 S. Montana Butte, Silver Bow County, Montana At various times she went by Devina, Mary and/or often the nickname “Dean” *she also used the last name Johnson for sometime, not sure why her mother listed all of them in the 1900 census with that last name but I think she was trying to avoid some somewhat “sordid” family history in the Bozeman, MT area Devina died 12 August 1951 Butte, Montana and is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery there with her husband and next to Harry’s sister(?) Mrs Mary Wheeler her obit states “Butte Daily post Monday August 13, 1951 Devina Burke is taken by death Mrs. Devina Mary Burke of 2289 South Montana street, a native of Bozeman and a resident of Butte for 45 years, died Sunday night at a local hospital following an extended illness. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Wheeler, Butte, and several nephews and nieces here.” I’m mainly searching for the families of Mrs Mary Wheeler and those nieces & nephews hoping they’ll have something!! I’m not totally positive but the only assumption I can make is that this Mrs Mary Wheeler was her married name and she was born a Burke and is thus a sister to Harry. Harry W. Burke was born 22 June 1884 in the Butte area to James and Katherine (McGuire) Burke He died 17 October 1946 – Butte, MT and is buried in Holy Cross cemetery there with Devina next to his sister Mrs Mary Wheeler Death certificate lists him as “a miner in the copper mines” I know searching the old Montana or even US censuses might help me find more info on these Burke & Wheeler families but I live off a small disability income while also trying to raise my 18 month old grandson on it too and can no longer afford to pay Ancestry’s fees to access those. Ancestry has sadly cornered the market on most genealogy resources and PUBLIC records pretty much putting a halt to over 25 years of my genealogy work. If ANYONE out there has ANY info you think might help me in my search for more about my Great Grandmother’s life or their Aunt or Great Aunt Devina Burke, Aunt or Great Aunt Mary Burke or their Aunt or Great Aunt Dean…. I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks: Terri L (Morgan) Ricks stormy@montana.com
